Alentejo Typical Gastronomy - VicentinaTravel Tour Operator

Someone hungry?

Gastronomy is one of the strong sides of Portuguese touristic offer, specialy in the Alentejo Region. According with the region where we find ourselves, different and delicious gastronomic tendencies can be tasted.

Regarding Alentejo coastline the most popular dishes are made with fresh fish and sea food. Grilled fish on Coal, like sardines, sea bass or sea breeze. Mixed fish soup (cataplana) or eel soup. Octopus, cuttlefish and squids cooked several different ways.

Sea food is also very typical in this region, a great way to wait for sunset while we celebrate life. Clams, shrimps, barnacles, oysters, crabs and mussels, all of these, such as the previouse, in the good company of quality olive oil, coriander, garlic and local baked bread.

Besides these delicacies brought to us by the sea, also some delicious meat dishes can be presented to us in the southwest Portuguese coast. Black pork is very appreciated in the region, also lamb and wild boar in a stew or barbecue can turn a simple meal into a gastronomic odyssey.

The best way to explore those local dishes is to do it locally in our friendly restaurants, during the hiking and biking holidays we provide!
