#2 Discovering Alentejo & Algarve Coast

Discovering the Alentejo & Algarve SW coast is an astonishing coastal walking program along Rota Vicentina’s Fishermen’s Trail, in the SW coast of the Alentejo region. Being mostly flat, the challenging factor here will not be elevation but the sandy sections, which will gradually decrease in length as you move South, shade is scarce in some areas, so make sure you are well prepared for the sun exposure. The pristine landscape is a constant along with this 120km/71 mi walking program which, being divided into 6 walks, makes the distance covered per day to be around 20km/12.5 mi. A comfortable distance for a broad range of walking expertise.

#5 Rota Vicentina from A to Z

This program combines programs #3 and #4, making it an “end-to-end” walk along Rota Vicentina, combining the best of Historical Way and Fishermen’s Trail, consisting of 12 day-walks, averaging 20km/12.5mi per day, totalizing 239km/148mi.

This is probably one of the best ways to explore the finest of Portugal’s pristine SW coast, getting to know a little of its splendor, from the authentic feeling of the rural villages inland to the picturesque fishing towns by the coast, and from Alentejo to western Algarve, two of the most beautiful regions in Portugal, reaching the Southwestern corner of Europe just before “América”.

Get the opportunity to try the delicacies of this area, starting with the black pork, followed by the freshly caught fish and seafood, and finishing with Algarve’s delicious sweet potato, carob, and almond desserts.

Having its start in the small town of Porto Côvo, and overnighting mostly in small coastal towns, this program takes you throughout the SW Coast along 6 day-walks, 178km/110mi.

Self-guided leisure programs using Touring bicycles and Mountain bikes (hardtail) is a funny way to cover bigger distances in this region having fun with almost no split level.

Our region has what we call an undulating landscape, pure flat with no mountains.

Touring and Mountain bikes have an e-bike option on request.

Trekking bicycle programs are accessible to all, however, the Mountain biking program is considered moderate to difficult.

The Holiday allows the cyclist to discover the best of both worlds available in this part of Alentejo, once the stages/routes will mix a great variety of landscapes. Starting pedaling inland will provide many opportunities to explore the countryside places and towns, using undulating secondary asphalt roads. By the Coast, the cyclist will be surprised by the Atlantic views and stunning beaches along the coastline. Cycling inland or by the coast, gastronomy, and wines will be always a highlight (seafood, fresh fish, and black pork).

The region is also extremely popular during Summertime, because of the beaches and Surf, but there is much more to explore behind this idyllic scenery cycling in this area will allow the cyclist to build an all-new experience out of that period/season, having the same feeling of locals that live there all year!

The Holiday allows the cyclist to pedal along the coastal area of Alentejo and Algarve regions, using essentially on-traffic roads and dirt tracks to reach Saint Vincent’s cape. Discovering a world of beaches with small villages and towns with tiny fishing harbors with a lot of choices for a good Mediterranean diet based on fresh fish and seafood. Wines are also a must-have during the experience once many are produced locally or in the same region. The insight will be full of natural fragrances, feelings, and new friendships, creating recollections about a part of Portugal that is adored by all but that seems overlooked all year.
